FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SMX® RTOS, USB, TCP/IP, and File System
Now Available for all Atmel AT91SAM Processors

Costa Mesa, California, November 20, 2006 - Micro Digital, Inc. is pleased to announce that it supports all Atmel AT91SAM processors. This includes immediate availability of the SMX® RTOS, USB stacks, TCP/IP stack, and File System for the Atmel AT91SAM7A1, AT91SAM7A2, AT91SAM7A3, AT91SAM7S, AT91SAM7SE, AT91SAM7X, AT91SAM9260, AT91SAM9261, AT91RM9200, AT91M55800, and AT91R40008 processors.

The core of SMX RTOS is the smx® real-time multitasking kernel. The smxBSP™ for the Atmel processor family provides startup code and board support functions for smx and is included with smx. Micro Digital is supporting the Atmel processors with IAR Embedded Workbench®. smxAware™ extends the IAR debugger to display smx kernel objects, queues, and diagnostic information, as well as task, ISR, and LSR timelines, processor usage, and task stack usage.

Other Micro Digital products include smxNS™, a TCP/IP stack. An Ethernet driver for the Atmel AT91SAM7X, AT91SAM9260, and AT91RM9200 processors provides turnkey TCP/IP support for these processors.

Similarly, a USB device controller driver for the AT91SAM7A3, AT91SAM7S, AT91SAM7SE, AT91SAM7X, AT91SAM9260, AT91SAM9261, and AT91RM9200 provides turnkey support using the smxUSBD™ USB device stack. smxUSBD permits connecting an embedded device to a PC, laptop, PDA, or other USB host device as though it were a USB disk drive, USB serial device, USB HID, or an Ethernet device (RNDIS).

A USB host controller driver provides turnkey USB host support for Atmel AT91SAM7X, AT91SAM9260, and AT91RM9200 processors using the smxUSBH™ USB host stack. smxUSBH permits connecting an embedded device to USB thumb drives and other USB peripherals, such as: USB disk drive, USB serial device, USB keyboard/mouse, USB modem (CDC ACM), or a USB to serial converter.

MMC/SD drivers are available for Atmel AT91SAM7X, AT91SAM9260, AT91SAM9261, and AT91RM9200 processors. These provide turnkey file system support using the smxFS™ FAT file system, which is media-compatible with Windows, thus providing easy transfer of information between an embedded device and a Window-based computer. The smxFS FAT file system can be seamlessly integrated with the USB stacks to provide USB disk access or emulation.

All products work seamlessly with the SMX® RTOS, or standalone, or may be easily ported to other RTOS's. Free smx and smxNS evaluation kits can be downloaded directly from www.smxrtos.com/eval. Look for the Atmel evaluation kits. Contact Micro Digital Inc at sales@smxrtos.com to download USB and file system demos.

Availability and Licensing
Evaluation kits are available, at no charge, for qualified evaluators. All products are licensed on a per-product basis without royalties, and no per-developer charge. smxAware for the IAR Embedded Workbench is sold per development seat.
