 X86 Products
SMX® was originally developed for the 8086 and supported only the x86 family for many years. As a result, we did a more thorough job supporting it than most other RTOSes, and we developed several x86-specific products, listed here, for both real mode and protected mode. SMX is one of the few RTOSes that supports real mode, and especially all memory models, and it may be the only one that supports extended real mode for the Turbo186 core, which gives a 16MB address space.
smx86® is the smx multitasking kernel for x86 systems.
pmEasy® is a protected mode environment for x86 systems. Alternative to complicated DOS extenders. Loads the protected mode application from disk or flash disk in .exe (NE or PE) file format. While the application is running, pmEasy provides a subset of DPMI services, trap handling, and protected mode debugger support. Supports 16- and 32-bit protected mode. Works with or without a kernel such as smx.
pmScope™ is a version of the Soft-Scope code debugger for use with pmEasy.
pmDOS™ is a bundle of several SMX modules, intended as a DOS replacement and upgrade to 32-bit protected mode. It includes pmEasy, unDOS/unWin, smx, smxFile, IDE and floppy drivers, and one seat of the pmScope debugger with smxAware.
unDOS™ emulates common DOS and BIOS calls. Many int 21h calls are emulated. Follow this link to documentation that explains the product and lists the calls that are emulated. If you find that you need additional calls for your application, contact us for a quote to add them. The set of DOS and BIOS interrupts used by your program can be determined by our DOStap utility (on the Demos page). See the real memory map for a discussion of areas of real memory that may become available for use by your application.
unWin™ adds emulation of some Win32 services to aid linking compiler run time libraries and third party libraries.
Real Mode EXE Bootloader boots your system and loads your application without DOS.
